Absolute Freedom for all Party – GLF 50th Birthday Party

Hello all today’s protestors and revellers.

Hello all today’s protestors and revellers.

It’s fifty years since the Stonewall Uprising and next year it will be fifty years since the Gay Liberation Front formed in London. How time flies! – forty-seven years since the under-21s of the Gay Liberation Front organised London’s first Pride March. Read all about it here – The Radical Roots of Gay Pride

We are a few activists from the Gay Liberation Front, the first wave of out activism and on March 12th we invite you to come join us to celebrate our 50th birthday at the very same place we had our first organising meetings. Thursday March 12th 2020 – 6.30-8.30pm at The London School of Economics – Facebook event page here at Weston Café, 6th Floor, Saw Swee Hock Student Centre, Sheffield Street. There are very limited spaces so please @ gayliberationfrontuk@gmail.com to be added to the guest list. The venue is fully accessible. The GLF exist for freedom for all so we will not accept any platform for hate-speech or ignorance.

The evening festivities will include never been seen collages, photos and footage from the first Pride demonstrations in London, a re-inactment of the first Pride demand readings and a sharing of our updated 50th anniversary demands, round table discussions on how we started Pride and what we can all do to continue the fight for ‘absolute freedom for all’ with nibbles, GLF inspired music from the past 50 years and a cheap student-price bar.

2020 brings the 50th anniversary of the start of Gay Liberation in London, the moment everything changed in Britain by giving us Coming Out, Gay Pride and the first Gay Pride March in 1972, making 2022 the 50th anniversary of that political demonstration and celebration.

GLF stands for liberation: the choice is always there – liberation or slavery.

Every month we have our public ‘Think Ins’ that are a concept which the GLF activists first used to have a space, a sanctuary in which to make sense of the world away from the pressures of homophobia and how to effectively respond. 50 years on there is still so much work to do to complete the ultimate aim of ‘freedom for all’.50th anniversary re-creation of the first Pride march – The Radical Roots of Gay Pride

If you wanna get involved and /or be added to the mailing list please email gayliberationfrontuk@gmail.com with a few lines of who you are and your committed to radical (getting to the root) queer freedom. Thanks to everyone who is making this happen!***
Invitation to GLF 50th party. With love and revolution, GLF 2020 🙂
